Our History

Communicata Language Services, LLC (also known as CLS) was founded in 2001 by Patricia W. Smitherman, a Spanish language and culture expert, and James L. Rhoden, Jr., an Atlanta entrepreneur who employs an ethnically diverse workforce.

Patty holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Spanish. She has studied, traveled, and conducted research in Mexico, Costa Rica, Spain, Uruguay and Argentina. She developed and continues to facilitate the Spanish-for–Business courses for the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce (Georgia).
