Crime victim compensation program; celebrating holidays the Latino way; cinema for Latin films

News
Robbery and aggravated assault against Latinos is a long-time and growing problem according to the Latin American Association (LAA). The crime problem arises because many Latino workers carry their money on them rather than stash it at home. LAA’s new partnership with the Georgia Crime Victims Compensation Program can help with its bilingual program advocate and materials in Spanish which can help crime victims cover their crime-related expenses. LAA also provides safety education which includes helping people set-up bank accounts.

Notes
For those of you who live or have worksites in Cobb, Cherokee or Douglas areas, check out Cine Mireles, a new cinema devoted to Latin films. It’s located in Blackwell Square off Canton Rd. north of Marietta. Take your employees there for a party or go yourself and tell them about the great film you saw. Not only will they appreciate your effort to appreciate Latino culture, you just may glean some important cultural information from the movie. Movies are subtitled in English or Spanish.

The website is www.elcinemireles.com. The number is 678-290-4126.
