“La Guadalupana,” an arts display to honor the Patron Saint of Mexico, is on display at the Atlanta History Center in McElreath Hall through December 16. The Virgen of Guadalupe is an important figure for Mexicans and for most Latin Americans. To understand her prominence and what that means for your company’s employees from Mexico, it would be well worth a visit. Also at McElreath Hall is the Day of the Dead Festival on Sunday, October 29, 2006 from noon until 5 PM. There will be elaborately decorated altars honoring family members as well as storytelling, crafts, and most importantly, authentic Mexican food and music!

Explain procedures and techniques to your Spanish-speaking employees in person even if your company has training videos. Generally speaking, Latinos need personal interaction and, of course, then they can ask questions too. If you must use the video approach, find a truly bilingual person to answer their questions and to give your company feedback.
